Berlin food is built from two engines: old working-class German cooking and one of Europe's most important Turkish diaspora food cultures. The city eats late, casually, and cheaply by western European standards, with Imbiss counters carrying the real weight. Bakeries, market halls, beer gardens, and neighborhood kneipen carry more real value than polished Mitte dining rooms.
